BANKING SIMULATIONS OVERVIEW:

MLS International, in association with the Belgian Banker’s Academy, develop and deliver bank technical simulation programmes. These simulations combine conceptual lectures with hands-on practical exercises in a virtual economic environment. The programme aims to link both concepts and simulation to the day-to-day practice of bank orientated financial institutions.

All the simulation programmes focus on the importance of the key drivers for business success in banking: managing stakeholders (and their expectations), capital, asset/liability management, income, liquidity and risk. All the programmes allow participants to explore different strategies and give immediate feedback about the success of their decisions,. There is simply no better way to enhance the success of your high potential managers than through simulation based learning.

B@nkSIM (Management of Financial Institutions Training Simulation)

This computer-based simulation training programme is mainly geared towards middle to senior managers. It covers the management of a bank under all its aspects: asset and liability management, liquidity management, credit risk management, etc. The learning objectives are to give participants an insight into major decisions taken in banking today; an overview of how different areas of business interact to produce overall business and financial performance; and an understanding of the overall strategy of their financial institutions.

B@nkSIM Lite (Fundamentals of Bank Management)

B@nkSIM Lite provides participants with an integrated learning package to study bank financial management at an introductory level. It develops the knowledge and skills necessary for understanding bank financial management practices. Moreover, participants gain a deeper understanding of the risk-return trade-offs that bank managers face as they gain insight into the key success factors affecting the profitability of banks in today's financial services industry. It is intended primarily for junior banking personnel.

BranchSIM (Branch Performance Management Training Simulation)

This unique computer-based simulation programme provides participants with the tools necessary to understand the current retail banking environment and the many factors influencing present-day branch management.  It will provide intensive training in the indispensable tools of managing and maximizing the performance of a bank branch taking into consideration the drastic changes that are taking place in retail banking.  This hands-on computer-based simulation training programme is specifically designed for regional and branch managers, staff as well as central officers to enhance their branch strategy and how to modify them due to the rapid changes which are taking place in the retail-banking environment.

CredSIM (Credit Risk Management Training Simulation)

CredSIM focuses on the management of a loan portfolio at the macro level with the objective to maximize the bank's ROE. Given its focus on credit policy, all major decisions are related to the assets side of the balance sheet, which is well elaborated in the simulation. This simulation training programme can be conducted over a period of three to five days, depending upon the level of prior knowledge and work experience of participants.

CreditSTRAT (Advanced Credit Risk Management Training Simulation)

It focuses on the global bank-wide credit management of multiple credit portfolio's with the objective to maximize the bank's EVA under risk constraints. Given its focus on credit policy, all major decisions are related to the assets side of the balance sheet, which is well elaborated in the simulation. This simulation training programme can be conducted over a period of three to five days, depending upon the level of prior knowledge and work experience of participants.

Target Group:

Individuals who have been identified as having the ability to contribute to the organisation beyond the norm. In general they are in important decision-making positions and need to gain a profound understanding of the key drivers for business success in banking. They have likely participated in bank management development programmes before, either as part of internal curriculum’s or through external providers. They are also currently in (or are earmarked to be promoted into) senior management roles.  These bank simulations are very demanding by nature and require the highest level of commitment by participants to optimize their learning.
